Outcast OSG Striker Raft – Two Person Quality Raft With Room?

If you have come across the Outcast OSG Striker Raft, then you have most likely fallen for its aesthetic looks. It’s as small and as sharp as you would expect a striker vessel (militarily-speaking) to look. Then again, it is not just the looks that speak for this raft, but also its efficiency as a vessel meant for angling.

Even with its handsome look, this raft packs a punch by being able to accommodate up to two people without reducing its ability to deliver on performance. Its capability to withstand the rugged nature of rapids also makes it an excellent choice for adventurous anglers, as we will find out in this Outcast OSG Striker review.

The Outcast OSG Striker Raft Frame

The Outcast OSG Striker Raft’s main frame, the inflatable hull, is made of urethane. At full inflation, the hull measures a diameter of 16”. The fact that the craft is very light and easy to maneuver will make you feel like you are rafting on air.

Urethane is a tough synthetic material that is able to withstand damage from rock and gravel grazing, as would be expected of shallow waters. Additionally, the seams of the AIRcell (the hull) are welded together, which provides a more tensile hold of the whole frame.

At a length of 9’6″ and a width of 5′, the Outcast OSG Striker Raft has plenty enough space for a comfy cockpit. Not the full body stretching type of cockpit, but enough comfortable leg room for the backseat angler. The size of the boat also offers enough buoyancy support, which is crucial in unsettled weather conditions and waters.

Fully inflated, Outcast OSG Striker only weighs 102 lbs, but that does not stop it from performing with a huge weight capacity of up to 800 lbs. Quite impressive! What’s more, when it’s deflated, this raft can fit in your backpack if well folded. Fully inflated and rigged, it needs only two people to carry it.

To create rigidity, it is fitted with two pairs of aluminum frame sets, which provide extra support for the seats. They do not add any extra weight to the boat or cause any inconvenience.

Features of the Outcast OSG Striker

There are many people who are always wary of inflatable watercrafts. However, the Outcast OSG Striker Raft’s material speaks to its durability. With a fabric density of 1100 PVC, the craft is undoubtedly one of the toughest inflatable rafts on the market. Moreover, at a material weight of 24/27 ounces, the raft remains just about the right size/weight ratio for your maneuverability needs.

The Summit 2 valve is an air intake valve made with long-lasting benefits in mind. It will allow an intake of air with every pump session, without it being a tiresome chore. This makes it ideal to use either a hand pump or an electric pump on the Outcast OSG Striker Raft.

Should you, your child or your pet break the valve, an inexpensive replacement is readily available from Outcast. What’s more, you do not need a technician to repair the valve of the Outcast OSG Striker. All it takes is reading the Outcast OSG Striker Raft’s instruction manual and you are good to go.

As an angler, you would know that you are never assured of the water situation, especially if you are doing rapid streams, rivers, and open lakes. That is why the Outcast OSG Striker Raft’s self-bailing floor is a welcome feature.

The craft is curved a bit higher on the bow area, which will allow water on the floor of the cockpit to drift toward the stern area, where it will drain out of the boat. In a two man position, the inflatable lean bar on the Outcast OSG Striker allows for a more comfortable standing position for the front angler. This is essential when going for the big ones that are ready to put up a good fight.

The Outcast OSG Striker’s seating arrangement is also something to ogle upon. Even though the Outcast OSG Striker is largely marketed as a two-seater, it can also be converted into a single by detaching the frames which hold the front seats. The seats themselves are comfortable while retaining the minimalistic feature of the rest of the craft.

Should you need to add a few mores accessories to the Outcast OSG Striker Raft, you won’t have to worry about extra space. The vessel has a brilliant integrated gear system (IGS), consisting of slots that allow for the addition of accessories such as rod holders, deck mounts, paddle holders, and cargo pockets.

All aspects of movement on the vessel, from maneuverability to speed, should not be a problem. Through the IGS, an extra pair of rowers can be added to make the Outcast OSG Striker Raft a tandem. Not a popular thing for such a craft, but if you are adventurous, you can try just for the fun of it. For speed freaks, the raft comes ready for a motor to be installed.

We are about halfway through our Outcast OSG Striker review. Next up is storage space.

Outcast OSG Striker Raft Storage

At first sight, you might write off the Outcast OSG Striker Raft as incapable of giving you a good angling experience due to storage space. After all, what is angling, if you cannot carry home a catch?

For your storage needs, the Outcast OSG Striker has an attachable cargo pocket bag, which does not look like much from afar, until you start opening up those pockets.

The cargo of the Outcast OSG Striker Raft has two zipped pockets which, though not very large, are enough to hold quite a nice amount of medium sized items such as a pump, your angling knife, bags and other stuff. If you’re out all day fishing, it’s a certainty that you will get thirsty, so the two cup holders that are included will come in handy.

The Outcast OSG Striker Raft also comes with a seat side saddle bag which accounts for more storage than the cargo pocket bag.

To begin with, the bag has two more cup holders, and with two heavy straps attached to it, it is able to withstand as much load torture as you can give it. The Outcast OSG Striker Raft has a large dry pocket, ideal for storage of items such as your Garmin, cell phone, maps etc.

Additionally, you also get a medium wet/dry pouch where you can store your fishing jacket after use. With a fishing net pocket that allows for the draining of water from the pocket, you are in safe hands.

Above all, the most important features of the sea eagle fast track inflatable 2 person kayak is its safe and more stable design that makes it much more sophisticated than the previous models.

Sea Eagle Fast Track Tandem inflatable kayak

Specific Features of the Sea Eagle Fast Track Inflatable Kayak

Does Fast Track’s Build Hold Up?

It is made of a reinforced 1000 denier material which is resistant to UV rays and salty sea water. This makes it durable even if left outside for long periods of time. Additionally, this kayak has wide overlapping seams and 4 air chambers for extra safety.

How Is This Inflatable Tandem With Maneuverability and Stability?

The Sea Eagle Fast Track Inflatable 2 Person Kayak Pro Package can comfortably maneuver through ponds, lakes and ocean bay areas. Alternatively, this kayak is guaranteed to paddle safely in up to class 2 rating rivers. Rivers above this rating are dangerous to paddle with this kayak.

The exciting combination of the innovative keel, the rear skeg, and the high-pressure drop stitch floor provides good tracking. This kayak, therefore, paddles straight in almost all conditions due to the improved stability. It is safe to paddle in slow streams, bay areas and windy lakes.

Storage

Since this kayak has small deflated dimensions and weight of 31” x 19” x 8” and 32 pounds respectively, it is easy to store and carry around. Additionally, it is made from a strong fabric that cannot be damaged easily by weather conditions even if stored outside.

Specifically, the 1000 Denier Reinforced Fabric is resistant to UV light and acid rain.

Sea Eagle Fast Track Inflatable 2 Person Kayak’s High-Pressure Drop Stitch Floor

One of the sleekest features of the Sea Eagle Fast Track Inflatable 2 Person kayak is its drop stitch floor. This is a separate air chamber that can be inflated to very high pressure making it as rigid as a solid floor since it is designed using the drop stitching technique. One can stand on this floor and still be stable although it has seats for enhanced comfort of the riders.

It is easy to set up!

Setting up the Sea Eagle Fast Track Inflatable Tandem Kayak is so simple and can be done by anyone without experiencing problems. Using the designated foot pump, inflation takes approximately 7 minutes. Although the set-up is so simple, Sea Eagle has created a video showing how to do it correctly here:

The Fast Track NeedleKnife’ Keel

This is the feature that gives this kayak the name Fast Track. The presence of an inflatable keel at the bow keeps the kayak straight regardless of the prevailing conditions. The keel is streamlined making it easy for the kayak to cut through the water with enormous force thus preventing resistance. This helps the kayak to move at high speed even in stormy conditions.

The 1000 Denier Reinforced Fabric

To most people, this may not say a lot about this material. However, this means that the material making the kayak is so strong that running a Jeep over it or hitting it with a hammer would not harm it. This helps the Sea Eagle Fast Track Inflatable Tandem kayak resist all sorts of scratches that may result from paddling in shallow rivers or sharp objects present in water bodies.

Sea Eagle Fast Track Quick Decision PROS Vs. Cons

Pros

  • It is among the safest inflatable kayaks available in the market today.
  • It is durable since the 1000 denier reinforced fabric resists all sorts of damage.
  • It is very stable and rigid making it suitable even in stormy conditions.

Cons

  • It is fairly expensive but if you’re looking for durability, this is a great option.

Sea Eagle Fast Track Inflatable Kayak Conclusion

The Sea Eagle Fast Track Inflatable Kayak is a high-quality kayak. It is very stable, durable, and rigid. Although it is a little bit expensive than other kayaks, its quality surpasses the extra bucks it is worth.

Sea Eagle Sport 370 Pro Kayak Package Review

As named, this two person inflatable kayak really performs like a Sea Eagle.  When considering a new addition of an inflatable kayak, it’s hard to overlook the Sea Eagle Sport 370 kayak.  There is good reason that this kayak scores well out of this class of kayaks.  Read on and find out why this is a 4/5 star product and a favorite amongst kayaking enthusiasts, beginners, intermediates and experts alike.

Basic Measurements

Starting with the basics, The Sea Eagle Sport 370 Kayak (not to be confused with the 330!) is an inflatable kayak that is designed to seat two people.  It has a maximum weight capacity of 650 pounds (and has been tested with around 450 lbs and faired great!) and comes in around 150L x 34W x 13H inches.  (Boring stuff but gives you an idea of what to expect).

[Note: For a unique option, the Oru Bay kayak does not disappoint].

Before I get in-depth with this specific kayak, let me clarify something: if you’re JUST getting into kayaking or have a budget (or both), an inflatable kayak is a great investment.  However, if you’re used to taking out hard shelled kayaks, love being speedy or want to experience the rapids, then an inflatable kayak is NOT the way to go.  A good number of the bad reputation these kayaks receive is due to false expectations, so it’s important to clear the air here.  Be forewarned that buying a hard shelled kayak, an entry level one, will cost anywhere from $500-$1000 depending on your purpose for it.  If you just want to have some fun in the sun and don’t have an extravagant budget, stick around for this review.

Is the Seating Comfortable?

The 370 has room to seat two people and most people have found that to be pretty roomy (even tall folks) so room size isn’t a concern.  If you are on the heavier side, then the 370 has the room advantage over the 330.  If you are a tall person, I would consider buying two of these (especially if leg room is a huge concern).  With one person, there is plenty of leg room and storage room for a small cooler or supplies; with two people, there isn’t as much room but the leg room is comfortable and a small cooler, supplies or some snacks are pretty doable.  However, if you kayak for hours with two people in one of these things (tall people, ahem), then roominess could be a factor.  The best thing to do is to try this out for yourself.

The kayak itself is pretty easy to inflate.  Some people might find it a bit of annoyance to work with the valves (that seems to be a standard issue with inflatable kayaks!) but once attached, it’s a matter of about 10 minutes to get this baby inflated properly.

Even with dual skegs, it can be hard for a few folks to navigate ‘straight’ but give yourself a few minutes to adjust to an inflatable kayak and you won’t find navigating the 370 challenging at all.

Can the 370 Endure Strong Winds?

A lot of folks have tested the Sea Eagle 370 in decent wind conditions around islands and small lakes and have found it to be extremely sturdy (this is not to say that you shouldn’t test this kayak’s limits first on your own, cautiously).   The material seems nice and durable which makes me feel ‘safer’.

Is the Sea Eagle 370 Pro Package Worth My Hard Earned Cash?

Most people are more than ‘satisfied’ with the purchase of their Sea Eagle 370 Pro package and a lot give it a high ‘best bang for the buck’ score.  It’s not as cheap as a couple of the other options out there but the extra money is more than worth it if you want to invest in a stable inflatable kayak and take it out in calm waters and wind around the year.

NMMA Certified?

The 370 is also NMMA certified  which means this particular inflatable kayak meets the minimum manufacturing regulations set forth by the US Coast Guard.

Flexibility

The kayak comes in around 32 pounds.  An added bonus is that it’s a perfect fit for small cars and any other type of tight transportation.  Not only does it inflate and deflate reasonably well but it packs comfortably in the back of a small vehicle.  Storage is extremely important for people with small vehicles and living space and this kayak passes that check easily.

Verdict

The Sea Eagle Sport 370 Pro kayak is one of the best options available for tandem hiking. Check out the Sea Eagle 370 on Amazon by clicking here.
